What is Stopping You?

When you are first starting out, there can be many things that can stop you in your tracks. Take for instance technical skills, topic expertise or my favorite…fear of not succeeding.

I have said it before that I have given up in the past and I am not ashamed to admit it. My failures were mainly due to fear of not succeeding. Now that I look back, it sounds silly to me but this is the reason why many don’t succeed in the IM world.  So what can you do to tackle it?

It is a very personal journey. I can tell you what I did but I am sure it will be slightly different for you. I decided that it was time for me to get ahead. I invested in John Thornhill’s Partnership to Success program. It is not cheap but it is setting me in the path to success.

Anyway, this post is not to promote John’s program. It is to tell you about our first week’s homework that John gives in the program. He asked us to read The Go-Giver.

I had heard about The Go-Giver before but never really bothered to read it. I am so glad I did. The book talks about the 5 laws of Stratospheric Success. I won’t go into much detail about them (if you want to know what the 5 laws are, then just Google it). In this post, I wanted to tell you how the book impacted me.

The 1st law from the book tells you to add more value than the payment you receive. In order to understand this you first need to understand the difference between value and payment. Value is the relative worth to the end user vs. payment is a dollar figure. If you want to make more money, then focus on helping more people. You have to give more value than your customers are expecting.

The value I want to share with you is what not to do. I have tried many things in the past and I have failed. I want to make sure that you don’t fall for the same things I did.

If you are stuck and don’t know where to go in your IM career…please reach out to me. I can help. I was there not so long ago.

So I ask you…what’s stopping you?
