The THREE ‘Commission Earning’ Criteria You Must Check Before Promoting Products!

This is the 4th post in the Affiliate Marketing Promo series. If you missed out on the other posts you can read them here: New Affiliates – 2 ‘MUST AVOID’ Tactics IF You Want Real Success! ,  May The Best Blog Win and What Are You Promoting?

checklistIn the last post I wanted you to check out the different affiliate networks. This week we are going to go over some important criteria for choosing the right affiliate programs to promote.

If you have gone through JVzoo or ClickBank already, then you know that you have many choices. (If you haven’t, then now is your chance). Variety is a good thing but when there are so many choices, it can be very confusing.

When you are new to affiliate marketing the different choices can easily overwhelm you.  The product you chose to promote is critical to your success. So I will help you find the best product to promote in the sea of info products. Here are some criteria to look for:

– Product Quality:

It is always important to pick a product that is backed up by a reliable and trustworthy team. You can check out all the products and services they offer and what people are saying about them. A simple Google search will give you lots of data points.

Another section to check is the Internet Marketing Product Reviews & Ratings section of the Warrior Forum. Check to see if there are any negative reviews about the product.

You want to make sure you have a good answer to these questions before you move on: are they for real, do they offer good value and are saleable, are there any negative reviews about the products?  Remember that you are putting your own credibility on the line when you promote their product so it is very important that you trust the seller and believe in the product.

– Product Demand:

It is very important to stay current on market demands and follow the ‘hottest’ products. You can do a simple search online to find out the trending topics and what people are willing to pay for. If the niche is hot, then there’s a good chance that someone is selling a product in that area. When a product has a high market demand, it’s much easier to sell. So in this case you want a saturated market.

– Product Commissions:

Let’s cut to the chase…your end goal is to make money. And in affiliate marketing, you make money through commissions – this is a percentage off the sale of a product. Why settle for a low-paying product when there are others that offer higher commissions because it is going to take you the same amount of effort to promote one vs. the other.

I have seen many affiliate programs that offer 100% commissions on the front end product and 50% throughout the rest of the sales funnel. There are others that offer 50% throughout the sales funnel. If the program pays lower commissions than that, you might want to reconsider.  It may not be worth your effort at all.

These are few things you should keep in mind when you are selecting a product to promote. In the next post I will be talking about some things to look out for when you are selecting affiliate networks.

    Hi Shreya,

you made some good points here when it comes to pick the best affiliate products.

However, I’d like to add a few suggestions.

As for evaluating a product’s quality, I think there is no way to go around purchasing and testing the product. So after checking out everything what you mentioned above I still would go and either purchase the product, or ask the product vendor for a review copy. This is the only way to determine if the product is the right one to recommend to your audience or not.

The product commission is in my opinion the least important factor when evaluating a product. In the end you can make more money from a product paying less commission, if all the other factors are right and the product suits your audience 100%.

    Have an amazing day,

    Hi Torsten,

You are right…you have to make sure that the product is right for your audience. Everything depends on that. Otherwise, you will start to loose your followers fast.

And the best way to know if the product you are offering them is good quality is to buy it and try it for yourself. Unless you know the person and you trust the products they release. Even then…you should check it out and if you know them, then you should have no problem getting a review copy.

Thank you for sharing that insight.
