Sorry, But You’re Doing It All Wrong!

Be honest…how many plugins do you currently have installed on your blog? If you are using WordPress, then you know what you can find thousands of FREE plugins to install.

I know that sounds tempting. It is so hard to turn down anything FREE. But you must resist. All you are doing is slowing down your blog.

It’s not just plugins…trust me you don’t need to have visitor counters, flashing banners, funky fonts and a flashy back gourd (I know…this sounds funny coming from a girl who has glitter on her blog and her moto is to make fairy dust. But if you must go that route…do it with style ;).

Simplicity is the key. Focus on the content of your blog and deliver what your customers are looking for. All the other stuff is just clutter and it causes unnecessary confusion.

All that being said, there are a few essential plugins that you should take advantage of.  Here is a list of my top 5 FREE plugins:

  1. Google Analytics: Google Analytics is the most comprehensive and free website analytics tool in the market. In layman’s terms it allows you to see where your visitors are coming from and what they are doing on your website. You can then optimize your site accordingly to improve your earnings.
  2. W3 Total Cache: Speed is one of the most important SEO factors. Faster websites rank higher in Google, this means more visitors for your business website and more conversions. W3 Total Cache allows you to serve compressed and cached files to your visitors. This reduces the load on your server and your website becomes faster.
  3. All In One SEO Pack: This is the best out of the box SEO plugin for your blog. It will help your site to rank better by Search Engines.
  4. Google Adsense for Responsive Design – GARD: This plugin allows you to use short code to display responsive AdSense ads throughout your blog.
  5. Sharebar: This plugin helps you add a dynamic bar, which allows you to easily share on Facebook, Twitter or e-mail.

You now have my top 5 plugins list. Install them if you haven’t already. And if you have more than 15 plugins installed, really look at all of them and see if you need them. Remember simple is better.
